Immerse yourself in the world of Touch Drawing. Touch Drawing is a simple yet profound creative process and a unique form of visual expression. Spontaneous images are created by moving the hands/fingertips on paper placed over a painted surface. Because you can work rather quickly, series of works are created.
Creating directly with our hands encourages an innate child-like freedom of expression. The process is often meditative and dream-like as we enter the imaginal realms where simplicity of imagery and depth of soul are united. Inspiration comes from the present moment, body sensations, specific intentions, or using other prompts such as nature or sound. The hands-on nature of this workshop will give each participant a direct experience of the unique qualities inherent in Touch Drawing.
This full-day retreat includes demonstrations, Q & A time, art supplies, morning and afternoon guided, hands-on Touch Drawing sessions, and opportunities to reflect on the imagery individually, with a partner, and in the group. Multi-modal forms of expression such as gentle movement, sound/silence, and writing/journaling will be incorporated to expand kinesthetic awareness and insights.
No formal artistic ability or previous experience is necessary. More details about the day and how to prepare will be emailed to participants after enrollment and prior to class.
Investment $120 (plus $15 supply fee paid on the day of class) Class limited to 8 participants
Lori Sweet has been practicing Touch Drawing for over 20 years after being inspired by its originator, Deborah Koff-Chapin. Lori has created dozens of ‘art for wellness’ experiences over the past 30 years using a variety of expressive arts and now has taken on the mission to share Touch Drawing with others.
